The Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Friday's final road game scored five touchdowns on the Louisville Cardinals in their 34-14 victory at Papa John's Cardinals Stadium in Louisville, KY. The Louisville defense found no answers to stopping the wildcat and reverse plays that their Big East rival was pounding on them. Rutgers ran the ball 48 times for 239 yards.

Rutgers true freshman Mohamed Sanu put up unusual numbers for a wide receiver, carrying the ball 18 times for 148 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. The South Brunswick native who last year played quarterback and safety for South Brunswick High School picked up a 34-yard gain midway through the second quarter. The big gain put Rutgers near the goal line, setting up an easy four-yard touchdown for Sanu to put the Scarlet Knight up 21-7 .

Rutgers (8-3, 3-3) on the next offensive drive scored their fourth touchdown of the game when wide receiver Tim Brown caught a 32-yard pass from quarterback Tom Savage with two Louisville defenders on the coverage. Brown, with 1,051 receiving yards on the season, finished the game with seven catches for 124 yards and one touchdown.

Louisville fans were ready to exit the stadium as they were starring at a 28-7 Rutgers lead with 1:12 left before halftime. Senior Day at Louisville was a bitter ending for the fans and senior players that played on the 2006 Orange Bowl team that finished 12-1 under former head coach Bobby Petrino. But since Petrino's departure, Louisville has suffered three consecutive losing seasons.

Louisville senior wide receivers Trent Guy and Scott Long put up solid numbers in their final farewell as a Louisville Cardinal. Guy had 107 yards on 5 catches and one touchdown while Long had 66 yards on seven catches. But for Louisville (4-8, 1-6), the senior leadership plus 254 yards passing by quarterback Adam Froman was not enough to beat Rutgers.

Rutgers running back Joe Martinek contributed to the team's total rushing yards with 90 yards on the ground out of 22 carries. The Hopatcong native scored the game's first touchdown on the Scarlet Knights' opening drive with a two-yard run. Martinek, with 874 rushing yards on the season, is on pace for his first 1,000-yard season in his collegiate career.

Rutgers will return to Piscataway for their final home game on Dec. 5 against Big East rival West Virginia. The season finale is also Senior Day for the Scarlet Knight seniors.
