The iconic '90s Michigan rap pioneer MC Breed was buried yesterday after a funeral of more than 200 attendees at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan, 1851 Carpenter Road.

Breed known for his 1991 hit single "Ain't No Future In Yo' Frontin' which reached the Billboard Hot 100 on his self-titled debut with DFC, died of kidney failure at the age of 37 on November 22 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Legendary Flint, Michigan rapper MC Breed died at the age of 36 on November 22.

The Flint native was rushed to the hospital in early September for kidney failure and was on life support for two days before slightly recovering.

His 15 years in the music industry spanned more than 13 albums and notable collaborations with West Coast artists such as the late 2Pac which spawned his second hit "Gotta Get Mine," and Too Short as well as Michigan artists such as Slum Village.

Nearly 70 miles away from the rugged streets of Flint, Detroit artists and rap fans all across Michigan alike mourn MC Breed, who kicked down the doors for them to become accepted in the Hip Hop game on a national platform.

From the established to the up-and-comers, some of Michigan's finest share MC Breed's impact on them and the Michigan Hip Hop scene.

Black Milk: The few times I worked with Breed was on Slum’s Detroit Deli and on Dirty District Vol. 2. Breed was the coolest down to earth dude…joking, telling stories about the “Ain't No Future In Yo' Frontin’” days and working with ‘Pac. And when it came to music it was effortless for him cause his voice and delivery was so dope on a track all he had to do was keep the actual lyrics simplistic. I’m jus glad I got a chance to work with another pioneer of Michigan hip-hop.

Trick Trick: Breed was definitely a recognizable force in hip-hop. Also someone that I looked up to for his efforts to break barriers in Michigan and independent hip-hop. His dedication was something to behold and learn from.

Guilty Simpson: Breed was a pioneer for us. He put music from our region on the map way back. It's a sad day for not only Flint, but Detroit and Hip Hop as a whole. R.I.P. He'll be missed.

House Shoes: He was really the first cat to get out of our area and get s*** popping on a national level. He was definitely a big piece in the puzzle that led to this alliance between Detoit and LA artists, look now we have Caltroit, Bishop Lamont and even Dilla moved out here. When you listened to him he even sounded like a West Coast cat, he showed everybody you can't pigeon hole our music. It's f***** up we lost Dilla, Proof and now Breed. We not even losing soldiers, we're losing generals.

Invincible: He was a boss in the early '90s era we grew up in and proved you can be from Flint, Michigan and still make an impact on a large scale national spectrum. People didn't even know he was Michigan when he came out with "Ain't No Future in Yo' Frontin'." Even through his work with Slum Village showed he was still grinding.

Illite of the duo Octane and Illite: Breed was a huge influence to me. He was one of the first dudes, if not the first doing it on a national scale. I mean, I grew up knowing looking at him as the dude from Michigan that actually had a song with 2Pac. This is a huge loss for us.

Finale: He was a bonified legend, when I speak of Breed I speak in the same vein as Dilla and Proof. He knocked down the doors, if there was no Breed there would be none of us, he certainly shed the light on Michigan hip-hop. He drew lines between Flint and Detroit and put Michigan hip-hop on his back. He made an impact and took the whole state with him. He is the reason I rap.
