Ovarian cancer kills women of all ages and fundraising for research is in its infancy. The Run For Her 5k run and Friendship walk for Los Angeles is this November 15, 2009. Consider this as one of your yearly charitable contributions. Don't wait until one of your loved ones acquires this disease.
Of all the womens cancers, this one goes undetected until almost too late to treat. The treatment is difficult and the women who endure it are brave. Research to find and implement a cure for this disease is necessary to stop the disease from taking any more lives. Currently there is a test that can be run to determine if a woman has the disease, but, it is not routinely run during yearly exams. It is not 100% accurate, but it is a start. The test is a CA125 blood test. The test looks for a marker in the blood. An elevated count can indicate the presense of the disease.
You can read the stories of some of the brave women who have suffered with this disease. You can support women who are walking or running to support research. You can start your own support campaign.
