Forget about beer-swilling barbecues and celebrate Independence Day with a concert and picnic under the stars.

The Starlight Bowl kicks off its Summer Series on July 4 with a Star Spangled Salute to America, featuring the sounds of the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra and the Swing Kings, and culminating with a spectacular fireworks display.

Of course, it wouldn't be an outdoor concert without a picnic on the lawn. Guests are invited to bring their own picnic baskets and beer and wine, and this year’s official food vendors are BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse and San Marco Coffee.

And here’s a tip: Daily Grill at 2500 Hollywood Way sells boxed meals that are perfect for outdoor concerts.  Choose from a prix fixe meal including New York steak or cold poached salmon, salad and dessert, or pick your own meal from the regular menu. Each box comes with a tablecloth, napkins and utensils. Just make sure to order at least 24 hours in advance.

Concert tickets start from $7, and the gates open at 5:30 p.m.
