It’s hard to believe but Sacha Baron Cohen has done it again. He has created a franchise by making audience laugh and wince at the same time and viewers can’t get enough of it.
On June 25, the character Bruno appeared on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and the show aired a scene from the Bruno film in which Bruno goes on a talk show with his newly adopted African baby and he has dressed the infant in a cut off T-shirt that says Gayby; he argues with the angry audience about whether to call the child African or African American and proceeds to broadcast that he “swapped the baby for an ipod”. The character is so narcissistic and stupid that he could do anything in the film. There are no boundaries. Audiences will be interested in finding out whether Sacha Baron Cohen can pull the same foolery off again after his mega-success with Borat.
The film had originally been given an NC-17 by the less-amused MPAA but gave the much needed R rating to the final cut which will allow a broader audience and guarantee more ticket sales.
Now he’s at it again, just a few days before the July 10, 2009 theatrical release, Bruno was caught on video giving fashion advice to none other than Miley Cyrus, Megan Fox and Robert Pattinson and other stars. The video clip of this event can be seen below. This will give a peek into the squeamish comic antics of the full feature Bruno until audiences flock on the 10th to get their feature length fill.
