Picture this. A woman immigrates from Guyana and with broken English and immense ambition; she works diligently from having literally nothing to owning two businesses, one now estimated to be worth in excess of $30 million. Sounds like an American fairytale, doesn’t it? That hard-working driven Guyana native wishes it were but for her, the fairytale has transformed into something dark, disturbing, and resembles more of a horror story than a “happily ever after” tale.

Regardless of Christine Persaud’s efforts and ambition, the company “Caring” a now $30 million home health care company is close to being ripped from her hard-working hands. You see, the imported entrepreneur is not only an industrious, humble woman, she is also philanthropic and unfortunately, trusting. Her only mistake was trusting the wrong people. She was determined to begin her own health care business and jumped through all the hoops and got all the licenses necessary to do so. She also accepted a minimal investment of $100,000 to help her company grow from an attorney named, Abraham Klein. Believing that Mr. Klien’s hands-on involvement would be minimal, she accepted his investment and trusted his character; however, Mr. Klein gained control of much more than the original agreement between he and Ms. Persaud stipulated. Actually, he was basically awarded close to her entire business by a very questionable and suspect arbitrator’s award.

It is well known that an arbitrator is to be an unbiased person that hears a case, like a judge, and determines based on the evidence provided by both parties, who shall be awarded what. Klein won but not by an unbiased arbitrator. The attorney and arbitrator, Mr. Marvin Neiman had a prior relationship. The arbitrator actually represented attorney, Klein in the past and does business with the attorney, Mr. Klein because, as an unnamed source has disclosed, Mr. Klein himself owns a nursing home named Fairview Nursing Home. Ironic name considering that there is nothing “fair” about Mr. Klein or his business practices. Court documents state that the arbitrator, Neiman and attorney, Klein had no prior relationship which proves the very least their combined crime is perjury. To add insult to injury, Ms. Persaud was poorly advised to not attend the arbitration and Klein won by default.

There are so players in this web of deceit in various positions of power ranging from attorneys to judges that it is almost unbelievable that the level of injustice can actually occur in a country such as the United States. But with the courts being overwhelmed with cases in New York City, it is unfortunate that so many cases never see their day in court because they are sent directly to arbitration, leaving room for the caustic vigor of the final say of an arbitrator’s decision. Many attorneys rely on cases being delayed and mistakes being made due to the immense amount of cases waiting to be heard in the New York courts.

Finally, Christine Persaud had to face the probability that Klein had more schemes planned than just being her business associate. He had planted two of his family members as “volunteers” to watch the inner workings of her company and to, no doubt, keep an ear and eye open to report back to Klein.

Ms. Persaud also had to face the hard fact that it was more than likely that someone close to her was betraying her from within her own employee pool. She began to investigate her financial officer, Mr. Melchizadek Escobar, whom she was sponsoring for a visa. After investigating Mr. Escobar, she found to her dismay that he was embezzling funds from “Caring”. Now she not only had enemies on the outside, she was actually employing one.

Unfortunately, Ms. Persaud was never aware of the motives of those involved in this conspiracy. They sought to weaken her control over her company, place others in power and push her completely out, taking her years of hard work for their own benefit. If she never gets her day for justice and for the truth to be told in court, they may very well succeed in their devious maneuver to steal all that legally belongs to her.
