Remember that little sketch trailer from the 2009 BET Awards show that got a big response called "Skank Robbers”? The one where Martin Lawrence resurrected his famed character, Sheneneh and Jamie Foxx brought back his In Living Color sketch character, Wanda? Yeah, that one. Well, it seems that the response was so positive that Screen Gems has agreed to distribute a film based on the trailer. Jamie Foxx, who doubled as host for the 2009 BET Awards show and as Wanda, will write the script. His production company, Foxxhole Productions, will produce the film along with Lawrence’s production company, Runteldat. The project will be tentatively called Sheneneh and Wanda.
Sheneneh was the ghetto fabulous neighbor of Martin Payne and Gina Waters in Martin, FOX’s 1990’s hit. Always in a blond weave, with painted nails resembling talons, Sheneneh would always get on the wrong side of Martin’s nerves. Wanda, was equally as ghetto. She was known as the ugliest woman in the world and always had men screaming and running in the opposite direction. She was introduced or rather she introduced Jamie Foxx to the world on In Living Color. At the time the show was on its last leg and Foxx added that little spark that kept the show funny until the last airdate.

Since then, Lawrence has been star of several films including the Bad Boys series and the Big Momma’s House series, where he also cross dressed. Foxx has graduated from B-list to A-list, winning an Oscar for his performance in Ray. He also has a successful a singing career, a rare feet for a comedian to accomplish.
The pairing of these two comedic giants on the silver screen is likened to the Alien vs. Predator matchup or to seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Slyvester Stallone all together (which is actually happening) for a mega battle. People want to see the biggest stars of their genre joining together to create a super team. The question is will it translate well to the big screen? Alien vs. Predator spawned two films but most will agree that pairing was lackluster at best. Perhaps Lawrence and Foxx have got a comedy hit on their hands or perhaps it was best that Sheneneh and Wanda stayed in the 90’s where they belong. View the mock trailer below and decide for yourself.
