New season of "Ace of Cakes" faithfully recreated the 2,124-passenger Carnival Pride, Baltimore's first year-round cruise liner.

For as much money as Carnival Cruise Lines must have paid to have its 2,124-passenger ship, the "Carnival Pride," featured on last night’s “Ace of Cakes” premiere, it should have gotten more than a few replica balloons and waving flags.

Okay, the twisting waterslide and Baltimore skyline were very impressive, but celebrity cake master and Charm City Cakes proprietor Duff Goldman can sculpt just about anything out of cake. Why stop there?

Tiny passengers soaking in hot tubs would have been fun. So would tiny passengers stuffing their faces at long buffet lines. Or a raucous miniature launch party on the main deck. In fact, the whole cruise concept could have been over the top fantastic just by including a passing Disney ship fishing a crazy Carnival passenger out of the ocean.

That would have, forgive me, been the icing on the cake.
