Homemade Christmas card for a soldier
Homemade Christmas card for a soldier
Terri Fraracci

Traditionally, we express our gratitude on Thanksgiving through prayer, or we go around the table and take turns saying one thing that we are grateful for. How about adding a new tradition that engages your guests, and gives them the opportunity to turn thankfulness into a gift of love and appreciation for a soldier.

Instead of putting place cards out on your table, set each adult's place with a beautiful, unsigned Christmas card. Ask them to fill it out for a man or woman who will be spending their holiday serving us. Give children folded construction paper and crayons to design their own cards. If you have twenty guests, twenty soldiers will know they are appreciated.

Sending the cards is easy and you have until December 7th to mail them through The Red Cross program called Holiday Mail for Heroes. Be sure to consult the website before instructing your guests as there are a couple of rules that must be followed. - RedCrossHeroes

This Thanksgiving express your gratitude for all that you have by giving thanks to the men and women who work tirelessly to protect our country and our lives.
