Well, we're supposed to write attention-getting headlines...

I've been focusing on single issue columns lately because there's been a lot going on. But there are some other things I might not be able to build an entire article around, but nonetheless I'd like to call to your attention. First up, Historic Arms, LLC President and friend Len Savage at Knob Creek:

Whoever posted the video should have titled it "semi-automatic." Per Len:

I was shooting a Barrett M-82A1 semi-automatic .50 caliber rifle. All 30 lbs (13.6 kg) unloaded, and 57 in (145 cm) of it. Rapid fire, ten rounds at a time.

Yes, I was hitting cars at 100-200 yards away. Yes, I was "point" shooting, not using the sights. I was using Armour Piercing Tracer Incendiary rounds [APTI].

I told him "Ah-nold" would have used one hand. But in real life, to hold the pen to sign the ban.

Funny thing about Knob Creek. Ordinary Americans have access to all kinds of firepower and yet 15,000 of them manage to get along just fine.

Maybe, just maybe it's not the guns...?

2A all the way

The Second Amendment is for everyone. I know some who are against the right to keep and bear arms portray it as the sole province of angry, conservative, white middle-aged males, probably in the hopes that we'll die off and they can finally create their Sarah Brady Paradise. But the thing is, we can be a pretty inclusive* bunch, as this guy and these folks demonstrate. Why, we can even embrace "progressives," that is, the ones who aren't actually regressive when it comes to human rights.

Meet Rady Ananda. She took the trouble to do the research for herself and find out the truth. Now she shares it with us.

Go and read "2A All the Way." And share the link with your friends. This type of thought getting exposure in these circles is something gun owners ought to encourage.

* "Inclusion Policy" link goes to GunTruths.com via the "Wayback Machine" Internet Archive. This was a collaborative website I worked on several years ago with a group of friends and gun activists, and was something of a pioneering effort in its day. We have since relocated and moved on to other ventures, and the site is no longer maintained.

Front Sight corrects 20/20 vision

Ignatius Piazza brings us some facts ABC conveniently didn't mention in their "If I Only Had a Gun" hit piece. Seeing as his Front Sight Firearms Training Institute has trained "more students than all the other major shooting schools and trainers combined" in proper skills and mindset "that EXCEEDS law enforcement and military standards," Diane Sawyer--and we--would do well to pay attention to him.

Go see the information he presents--along with a ton of supporting links--at "20/20 Gun Story a Bit Blurry."

Then please do one more thing that he asks:

I’m counting on you to spread the truth so people who don’t know any better, can see through the blurred vision of 20/20’s report, so please spread this blog to everyone you know and ask them to do the same.

By way of complete disclosure, I understand Front Sight occasionally advertises on Examiner.com. I have nothing to do with that and have not been in contact with them about this article, which was brought to my attention yesterday by a reader via email.

ABC's deceptive "play dates"

Jeff Riley at Buckeye Firearms Association show us how a network ostensibly presenting objective news instead manipulates people and facts to support an agenda:

ABC News tricked Jan and others to participate in what was obviously always been intended to be an anti-gun attack. In fact, this story starts with a false premise and goes quickly downhill.

Trouble in Oregon

Oregon Firearms Federation tells us:

House Bill 2463, a bill that would have recognized the concealed handgun licenses of other states, is in serious trouble.

Is Facebook censoring gun rights activists?

I just received an email telling me:

Recently the Facebook group, Keep Your Laws Off My Guns! has come under censorship of the Facebook overlords. Pictures are being deleted, posts and threads are being erased, members are getting threats that they will be removed from Facebook if they continue to post "offensive" things (which can only be gun related stuff, since the group is very good about self censorship). Anyway, this has caused many of us in this group to move from the Facebook page to a forum offsite of our very own.

If you want evidence of the censorship on Facebook's part,
go here and look back through the main discussion board.

We routinely find suppression of non-fascist political sentiment on other social networking sites like Digg, so sadly, this would not surprise me.

UPDATE: See comment from this group's moderator, below.

Welcome the Anchorage Libertarian Examiner!

Kevin Wilmeth has had me wondering why he doesn't have his own place to collect his thoughts. I'd see him occasionally turning up in the "comments" section both here at Gun Rights Examiner and at my WarOnGuns blog, and thought not only "Yow--this guy can write!" but also "Yow--this guy can think!"

So I was real happy to get an email from him yesterday telling me he's taking on a column here at Examiner.com. Here's his main page, for bookmarking, and here are his first two columns:

The founding fathers of 'domestic terrorism'

What passes for success in the War on (some) Drugs

Go. Read.

Shameless plug

"An Anti-Gun Coalition Of Mayors" is my Rights Watch column for the June 2009 issue of GUNS Magazine.

Take a look at the criminal charges against and character of some who would presume to disarm you and me.
