I received the following from my colleague Luann Dawkins, who writes the Birmingham Community Examiner column:
When I went to DC for the 9/12 March, one of my bus mates asked me if I would publish an article of his as he is a journalism major at Faulkner University in my area. I said I would be happy to do it, and he has now gotten his article to me. He needs to be published in an alternative media one time for a semester grade in his class, so I was trying to help him out. When he got the article to me last night, it is about [NY] and their statements after a gun show. So I got to thinking, it would be better suited for your column.
I typically don't solicit "guest editorials," but I'm always happy to do what I can to encourage interest in the right to keep and bear arms by the next generation--and the chance to see this kind of thought introduced in a college journalism class is too good to pass up. These students will, after all, be tomorrow's "Authorized Journalists."
