Whether you are a working mom or a mom who stays at home, everyone has trouble fitting cleaning into your day. Many people clean their house all in one day - usually Saturday morning. I want to challenge you to schedule your cleaning just like you would schedule a meeting. For several months I have been scheduling my cleaning. I clean for one hour a day. I pick different areas of the house to clean during this hour. I made out a cleaning schedule and I even entered it into my online calendar. I use Cozi.com for my calendar because it s free and they will send you an event reminder to your e-mail or to your cell phone.
A very simple example of a weekly cleaning schedule is found below:
Monday - Clean bathrooms
Tuesday - Clean bedrooms
Wednesday - Clean kitchen
Thursday - Clean living room and hallway
Friday - Clean out car and run errands
This is a somewhat simple example of what my cleaning schedule looks like. There are various sources that you could find online to make your own cleaning schedule. Fly Lady is a well known website that walks you through the baby steps of how to start scheduling your cleaning.
Organizedhome.com is also another website that has cleaning tips and hints and also has printable checklists.
There are many resources that can be found to help you come up with your own cleaning schedule. The point is not just to write out a schedule. The point is to implement it and to make it a habit. Also, if you do not get to everything on your list every week, that is okay. Just know that you have a plan and do your very best to keep trying to make it work. Also, do not make your list too complicated because you may be overwhelmed before you even start. Start simply, make it a habit and add on from there.
