Crystal Palace Baltimore will play a friendly match against the United States Under-17 Men's National Team this Saturday, October 17th, at 10:30 am on the campus of Loyola University Maryland. Fans will not be charged an admission fee to view this match.
The Palace squad will feature 12 players still under contract with the club after the conclusion of this past USL-2 season, in addition to several additional players under consideration for the 2010 squad. Former Baltimore Blast star Neto will also suit up for his first match with Palace.
The U-17 team is playing this friendly as a tune-up for their trip to Nigeria for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, which begins at the end of this month. Some key players to watch include Jack McInerney, the team's leading scorer (nine goals, three assists in eight appearances), and Victor Chavez, who caught the eye of co-manager Jim Cherneski during a training camp in Florida.
Examiner plans to conduct interviews with various players during the contest, which will be posted late Saturday.
