Tiger looking at a missed putt on the 3rd

The Westchester Classic started in 1967 and it has changed a great deal since then. It is now the Barclays, and it is being played at the Liberty National Golf Club in 2009 in New Jersey. The Liberty National Golf Club is one of the most expensive courses in the world having been built on a landfill, costing $129 million to build. The current defending is Vijay Singh, and Tiger Woods has never won this tournament.

Tiger Woods stayed even in the first two days in New Jersey. He shot a 70 in his first round and a 72 in his second round with four birdies and bogeys overall. Tiger has been less than perfect in the first two days, having trouble with his putter and missing a significant amount of makeable putts. Tiger needed to make a move today as he was eight behind the leader and in 17th place overall.

The rain was falling hard on Saturday at the Liberty National Golf Club. Tiger’s score stayed at even until a streak starting at the 5th hole. He started it with a perfect drive right down the fairway and an approach shot landing about 11 feet from the hole. He finished it off, as he was having difficulty with before, making a huge putt for his momentum to get under par.

Just after that, Tiger came to the par 5 6th, the easiest hole on the course. After powerfully getting to the green in two, Tiger left himself a 9 footer for eagle. It was a disappointing putt, just missing, but he was able to tap it in and make another birdie and get to two under par. Immediately, on the next hole, Tiger had a 17 footer for birdie and confidently knocked it in for his third birdie in a row coming into a par 5.

Tiger ended up just missing birdie on the par 5 8th and his round slowed down from there. On the 10th, Tiger drove left into a fairway bunker and hit into the right rough from there. He ended up with a bogey on that hole to go back to two under par. He turned it around on the 14th making a 13 footer for birdie to get to three under again.

Tiger had a textbook birdie on the 17th: perfect drive, fantastic approach shot, and a solid putt. Tiger made a great par on the last hole to shoot a 67, four under par for the round and the tournament so far. This phenomenal round on moving day has putt him in position to win on Sunday at the Barclays.
