Young Audiences of Houston: Taking it to the Streets
Presented by Young Audiences of Houston
They fly through the air with the greatest of ease. Catch the excitement of Soul Street (formerly Fly Dance Company) as these energetic performers demonstrate their varied styles and discuss the distinctive features and origins of each dance. From Brazil's Capoiera to New York's break dance and the multi-component forms of hip-hop, audience members learn how these styles developed and evolved.
*Kid Pan Alley & Peter Pan-the 1924 Silent Film
Presented by Miller Outdoor Theatre and Houston Cinema Arts Festival
MacGregor Elementary School students will perform songs they created in a weeklong Kid Pan Alley music residency program. Then, Miller Theatre joins the Houston Cinema Arts Festival with a special screening of "Peter Pan," the original 1924 film considered one of the most beloved film spectaculars of the Silent Era. Legendary silent film accompanists Donald Sosin and Joanna Seaton and Kid Pan Alley music director Paul Reisler perform their own score with vocals, keyboard and percussion.
