Some celebrities play that dark and broading look to the hilt. Angelina Jolie perfected it with her dark hair and leather pants, back when she was candid about cutting herself and carrying a vile of blood around her neck. Nicholas Cage, having grown up under the shadow of comic books, is no stranger to the distressed look of an otherworldly visitor, who may or may not be a child of the night.
The truth, however uncanny, is that celebrities carry around an air of mystery that would make for good Weekly World News reports. They lead the sort of lifestyles many people can only aspire to. Vacations on unpronounceable (Ichirouganaim) islands. Tickets to seats on spaceships that have yet to be built (Virgin). What makes it even harder to distinguish between them and us is their choice of film roles.
Most celebrities make a living as actors. Some of them are easy Oscar bait, while others...no matter how great they are, are drawn to stranger fair. Many great actors have done their fair share of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. For the majority of us, it is easy to separate the characters from the actual person. For others still, it's a lot more complicated.
Worth 1000 has a showcase of Celebrities as vampires. On the heels of the Vampire trend, photo effects auteurs are blurring the lines between reality and hollywood. But c'mon...we're talking people who make a living out of the unreal. Would you really be all that surprised if say, one day in the near future every celeb in Hollywood peeled off their skin and revealed the Reptilian Alien Overlord underneath?
