It seems that evolution cannot coexist with creation. In some circles evolutionists see creationism as absurd while creationists see evolution as intolerable. Then, there are people who find themselves somewhere in the middle of the argument. The creationist who sees that God created the Earth and man, just through a process called evolution. While the evolutionist might see some kind of amazing design in life and in all aspects of nature, which suggests the universe has intelligence.
Taking the intelligent universe idea to a logical conclusion would lead one to believe that life must exist on other planets. Taking God’s creation of the universe into consideration, it would suggest that God would not put limits on something, which by its nature is infinite. Perhaps, like other polarities (such as hot and cold), the comfort zone is somewhere in the middle. There are signs of the merger of religion and science from both angles.
In 2008, the Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Vatican’s chief astronomer, said that believing that the universe may contain alien life does not contradict a faith in God. "How can we rule out that life may have developed elsewhere?" Funes said. Ruling out the existence of aliens would be like "putting limits" on God's creative freedom, he said. (Paraphrased from Ariel David’s article in The Huffington Post.)
Francis Crick, co-discoverer of DNA in 1950 has expressed skepticism over Darwin’s theory being able to account for the complexity and diversity of life in a relatively short period through random mutation alone. Combined with his observation that all life on Earth shares the 4 basic building blocks of DNA, he offered an alternated theory: panspermia. The theory suggests that the raw genetic material for life on Earth was supplied by extraterrestrial sources, most likely via meteors and comets that crashed on Earth in her infancy.
Looking from either the scientific or religious perspective, it seems that extraterrestrial life is probable, possibly inevitable. Of course, many people question whether ETs are capable of contacting humans because travel would take decades even at speeds far exceeding humans modern spacecraft. In acknowledging and explaining the phenomenon known as faster than light travel, Lyssa Royal has posited the theory of density. Basing the theory on the idea of matter as densified energy vibrating at a specific rate, she has come up with the following system:
? Third Density: Ego; development of individual energy
? Fourth Density: Superconsciousness; Reintegration of group identity without loss of ego identity
? Fifth Density: Experiential awareness of “I” as a group identity; not bound by liner time
? Sixth Density: the “Christ Consciousness”, taking responsibility for the whole rather than the self
? Seventh Density: Awareness of total oneness and integration
Using this convention, the supposition is that the ETs who are contacting humankind on Earth at this time are in primarily foruth-fifth densities. What are called angels are probably in the seventh-eights, archangels at the 10th and All-That-Is (God) at around the 13th. In this model, there is room for a multitude of expressions of consciousness within the vastness of our universe.
