Michael Salla has created quite a buzz on the internet with his article Official disclosure of extraterrestrial life is imminent. The purpose of this article is not to challenge or confirm the notions expressed in Salla’s article, but rather to encourage those interested in ET contact to clarify their intent. The article An equation for consciousness suggests a framework for how intent is manifested in both the subjective and objective worlds.

The question of contact is something very personal – everyone has their own notion of what contact is and how it will manifest. Some interesting viewpoints were offered in the comments section of the article ET contact in the high desert regarding answers to the question "why do you want contact?" There are no right or wrong answers to this question, but it is important to have clear intent.

The next aspect to asking the ‘why’ question of contact is the ‘how’ question and what will ET contact look like to you? We would suggest that contact is not an event so much as a process. Using the analogy of disclosing a secret – such as the identity of JFK’s assassin (which has one truth) – the ‘truth’ about contact and ETs is multidimensional. This is why it is important to define for yourself what you want contact to look like. We encourage everyone to reclaim their personal power and seek their own personal contact rather than waiting for an official news broadcast from the ‘authorities’.

Can you see how waiting for external authority to validate your personal beliefs keeps you locked in the cycle of subordination? Everyone has their personal truths and beliefs; waiting for your beliefs, and in turn your reality, to be validated by officials is akin to handing your checkbook over to the IRS because they know better how to spend your money.

Even if disclosure is officially announced, it will be only one aspect of truth – for governments have their own truth! This is not a judgment on government, but rather the position that we collectively have put them in. We have given away our power to ‘them’ because we feel we cannot be trusted with our own power. How ironic!

Of course, the question of personal power extends far beyond disclosure and contact, but we bring it up here as an example of a vaguely defined intent. Some people feel that ETs will come and deliver us from our problems – however these will just be exasperated if we continue to give our power away. In this regard, defining the intent of contact is paramount to creating a reality that we truly desire.

With this in mind, ask yourself now what you want contact to look like.
