For the working professional, the lure of summer nightlife can be maddening. The desire is to go and play at one’s favorite dance club, bar or late night show no matter the day of the week. The reality is that work requires an early morning arrival sans aching muscles and/or hangover. There is, however, an alternative that will give the wannabe weekday nightlifer a little wiggle room. It’s called the movies. Get ready because here’s your chance to be entertained by a huge flat screen with surround sound, away from home and perhaps in the company of a sweet and sexy date!
What typically may come to mind when one thinks “movies” is an appropriately darkened theatre full of inappropriately aged children; ie. cholicy babies, curious three-year-olds, cell phone-addicted adolescents, etc. The solution to this particular anxiety is the independent theater. For the happy, child-free adult’s viewing pleasure, Atlanta features three:
Landmark Midtown Art Cinema: A lovely little theater next to some very cool dining choices and IT SERVES BEER!!! Plays both mainstream and independent films. Not a child to be seen for miles.
United Artists Tara Cinemas-Atlanta: A wonderful theater that plays about four independent productions at a time. Conveniently unattached to a shopping mall.
Lefont Sandy Springs: Check out their website here because your ticket stub can get you freebies elsewhere. Hurray for free stuff!
