It was in 1955 that Chevrolet introduced a milestone model that featured an all new suspension, new styling and most importantly a new potent powerplant in the V8 engine.  Previous of 1955, you found 6 cylinder engines, kingpin suspensions and dated automotive styling that went back to the previous decade.  1955 became the first of three automotive milestone years for Chevrolet that later would become known as Classic Chevys, Tri Five's Chevys or Shoebox Chevys.  Regardless what you call the '55-'57 Chevy, today those cars are as collectible and sought after as they ever have been.

In the mid 70's the 'Classic Chevy' craze was just beginning and locally the Dallas Area Classic Chevys were formed for the enthusiasts who loved those cars.  Now over 30 years later that same car club still celebrates all that is 'Tri Five' and this weekend it's the club's largest event - a big car show of nothing but '55-'57 Chevys!

To be held on Saturday, March 13th from Noon to 3PM at the Reliable Chevrolet dealership in Richardson, it is expected that 75 to 100 of the legendary Chevys will appear for the Spring Classic Chevy Show.  The event is free and open to all 'Tri Five' Chevy cars, trucks and Corvettes with live music from the Ghost Surfers, free hot dogs and burgers, and a special 'Cacklefest' for open headered engines.  Last year's Favorite Cackler Sonny Poteet from Pearland, Texas will be back with his 502 big block blown '55 Chevy to see if he can win another 'Favorite Cackler' title.

The show takes place at the dealership at the corner of Arapaho Road and Central Expressway.  Spectators are free to come and look at all the Chevys and talk to the owners of these classic cars.  The Dallas Area Classic Chevys who play host to this event will have their club sponsors, Reliable Chevrolet, Wilson Auto Repair and Heritage Insurance pick Favorites from those attending the show.

Be sure and check out the slide show from past 'Classic Chevy Shows' hosted by the club at Reliable and plan to bring the family out this Saturday from Noon to 3PM and see the area's finest Chevrolets!
