Tropical Depression #2 might be the only classified system in the Atlantic and the Gulf, but it's not the only one being monitored. Two tropical waves, one being Windward Islands has about a 30% chance of development. The other wave is not too far behind and also has about a 30% chance of developing in the near future. But, the bigger system with a lot more potential is exists off the coast of Africa, which is one of the strongest waves to roll off the coast this year.

August storms that usually cause trouble are Cape Verde storms and this would fit the Cape Verde term. The hurricane computer models are all over the place with this system and it could go anywhere. It's on the one side of the Atlantic and we're on the other. Hurricane hunters are a big advance and they can't investigate this until it moves closer to the Caribbean Islands. The good news is, we have 10 to maybe even 14 days to watch it before it could become a threat to the United States.
