On July 14, PetAirways launched the first airline specifically designed for pets that allows you to send them on their own flight designed to fit their needs. You have the option of sending your pets to and from New York, D.C., Chicago, Denver and Los Angeles. If you happen to be flying to any of these major US Cities, you can send your animal friend in a much more convenient, comfortable way for them as opposed to being kooked up in a cage stored in the cargo area. Standard flight experiences can be frightening to the pets, and has been known to cause mental and physical harm, and in some cases even death. What pet owner wants their life friend subjected to this kind of treatment? The pets will be much more at ease in the main cabin. The flight attendants are constantly monitoring and will make sure they are safe and secure.
Simply drop your pet off at the designated area in the airport. Pet Airways will make sure your dogs get bathroom breaks regularly as opposed to a standard flight where they would otherwise wait a much longer time. They even offer an online Pet Tracking service so you can track your pet’s journey so you know where they are at all times. This could be very handy if a flight is delayed. Once you get to your destination, pick your pet up at the Pet Lounge and you and your animal can be on your way. Fees range from $150-$300 which isn’t too bad considering you would be paying this on a standard flight for the pets to be placed under the seat or stowed as baggage. For a small yearly fee you can also sign up for a MyPAWS membership which offers discounts off their online pet store items , pet medicine and health insurance discounts.
The company plans to offer service routes to Canada in 2010 in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
