New York Theatre critic Leonard Jacobs will be at Ten Chimneys in Genesee Depot, Wisconsin for an evening of conversations and an insiders’ look at Broadway on June 6, 2009 at 8 PM. The lectures series Ten Chimneysshould be fascinating to anyone with an interest in theatre and the history of Broadway greats Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne.

Ten Chimneys is a National Historic Landmark and the estate of legendary Broadway actors, the husband and wife team of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. The Lunts were gracious hosts and loved to entertain their many famous Broadway and Hollywood friends at the dining room table at Ten Chimneys in Genesee Depot. The Lunt home was the site of many lively conversations between the actors of the “Golden Age.”

Ten Chimneys lecture series is inspired by the legendary conversations around the dining room table of Broadway actors Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Each national-caliber “Conversation” offers guests a meaningful connection to theatre, the Lunts, and the themes and values of Ten Chimneys. Leonard Jacobs continues this tradition as he shares never-before-published photographs and engaging anecdotes drawn from his best-selling new book, Historic Photos of Broadway.

Mr. Jacobs “Conversation at Ten Chimneys” will showcase images of the world’s most celebrated theatrical community, including the Lunts’ 45 years on the Great White Way, and offers a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse at 120 years of Broadway’s most iconic legends. After the Conversation, Mr. Jacobs will be available to sign copies of his book and talk one-on-one with guests.

Mr. Jacobs is currently “blending art and politics” for the Clyde Fitch Report, a Web site he founded in 2006 and designed with the sentiment that “arts and politics are wedded; these elements of our society are part of its fabric, part of our soul.” He is the founding editor of Theatremaniafirst-string critic for the New York Press, and the former national theatre editor for Backstage, the trade brand for American actors.

Mr. Jacobs is deeply rooted in the theatre community; he is a Tony voter, chairs the New York Innovative Theatre Awards, adjudicates for the New York International Fringe Festival and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, and teaches at the O’Neill’s National Critics Institute.

Mr. Jacobs’ Conversation begins at 8:00 pm at the Lunt-Fontanne Program Center in Genesee Depot, WI. Admission is $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. To make reservations, call (262) 968-4110.
