Red Wings

1896: Former Detroit defenseman Reg Noble (1927-33) was born on this day in Collingwood, Ontario. Noble played 227 games for Detroit and scored 25 goals and 24 assists for 49 points. He also had 307 penalty minutes.

1900: Former Red Wings goalie John Ross Roach (1932-35) was born on this day in Port Perry, Ontario. Roach played in 91 games for Detroit and had a record 41-34-14, a goals-against average of 2.20 and 10 shutouts.

1975: The Red Wings acquired Terry Harper and Dan Maloney from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Marcel Dionne and Bart Crashley.
