A new monthly bluegrass jam has been initiated at the Cellar Door, 101 W. Main Street in Visalia. The next scheduled jam will take place from 12:00 noon to 4:00pm this coming Saturday, July 18th. Cellar Door owners Dan and Denise Littleton were pleased with the turnout at the first jam which took place last month, and are excited at the prospect of this jam becoming a monthly occurrence. (Thanks to Blain for this information.) Please help to spread the word and make this jam a success.

On a sad note, the monthly bluegrass jam at the Bear Mountain Library in Squaw Valley is no more; Due to poor attendance, the jams have been cancelled until further notice. The Bear Mountain Library jam got off to a strong start in November of 2007, but there has been a steady decline in attendance this year. This may be due in part to the increase in gas prices, but the increase in bluegrass activities throughout the central valley may also be partly responsible, as musicians and fans have more choices of events and may no longer need to travel long distances to hear and play their favorite music. Wherever you live in the Valley, please support your local bluegrass venues!
