Have you ever noticed how easy it is to make excuses for not working out or eating healthy? We all do it at times.
In this time where health is such a big concern, can you imagine what a great impact it would be if we stopped making excuses and started being more healthy?
Perhaps we would feel better and enjoy all the many benefits of being in good health. Perhaps the rising impact of health care could even be affected in a positive way.
Our health directly affects our life and well-being. It is imperative that we stop making the excuses. Nothing should be holding us back from a happy and healthy life.
Here are some ways to overcome common excuses we tend to make about our health:
I don't have time to exercise!
If you are honest with yourself, you do have the time. Sometimes you have to get creative. If you have kids, run outside with them or go on a nice walk/jog and you will combine bonding with exercise which is a win-win.
For best results, take the time to analyze your schedule. What can you move around to fit in a good workout? You will also be more likely to do it if you set a goal and track your results, and if you participate in activities you enjoy.
I can't afford a diet program!
Not everyone can afford a trainer or to join a program like Weight Watchers. Is money too tight? No problem! Many people find programs helpful, but the truth is, you don't have to be on a special program to find success. There are free online tools to help you keep track of weight loss goals and tracking food and exercise. All you really need is the motivation and a notebook and you are set!
I have too much going on right now.
Life is all about balance. Your health should be one of the most important things in your life. Re-evaluate your priorities. There may be times of the year when we have more going on, so we can make adjustments such as working out slightly less, but we can still make steps to be healthy.
I don't know how to lose weight.
You may not have all of the answers, but you do have all of the tools available to you. All you need is the internet or a library card and you can find out everything you need to know.
Keep it simple. Burn more calories than you consume. Make sure you eat a balanced diet and get moving and you can't go wrong!
It isn't convenient to eat healthy
It actually is easier than you think. Limited on time? You can buy healthy snacks ready-made such as carrots, yogurt, nuts, etc that will make your life easier.
Having a bad day and don't feel like cooking or have the time? Its okay to order out or do the fast food, but choose healthier options. Stick to grilled, non-fried foods and choose salads with fat-free or light dressings and as always watch your portions.
Going to a restaurant? No problem. Nearly all food joints will have some kind of a grilled chicken and veggies dish.
Remember that making excuses is only hurting you. Yes, eating healthy and exercising takes preparation, a little extra work. But guess what, it is well WORTH it!!!! Stop making excuses and start getting healthy TODAY.
Don't get frustrated about the past, or when you falter. Get right back up and empower yourself. You do have the power to become that healthy person you've always wanted to be.
