Dina Titus...Working for us?

Pictured here with Joe Solmonese founder of the HRC (Human Rights Campaign) one would naturally assume that Dina Titus supports LGBT legislation.  When searching Dina Titus and LGBT issues on the web one may find it very hard to pin down a solid voice coming from her.  Although one can find many websites and people that speak about her support, not many can be found with her voice, and there is no statement on her website covering the issue.

One quote that was found in the October 2008 issue of Q Vegas where she says "If you look at my record in the legislature,it has been very strong on equality issues.I recruited David Parks to run for the assembly; he’s gonna take my senate seat.  We’ve worked together on a number of things, repealing the sodomy act and the sodomy statutes, visitation rights for partners in the hospital, hate-crime legislation, and also economic discrimination, so those things will continue to be my priorities in the congress. I definitely do not support a constitutional amendment that has to do with prohibiting gay marriage."  However, it appears to be one of the few solid quotes that can be found.  She seems to think that she is "For" LGBT legislation by association with others that are.  Senator David Parks is one of Titus' close colleagues.  In fact so close she takes credit for guiding him into office as the quote above shows. 

In a recent interview with Dina she was asked for a one on one meeting while she was on break from D.C. to talk about LGBT issues  she said "This is my scheduler , please make an appointment I would be happy to speak with you, but I can tell you now I am an easy sell, I was there for the 'Don't Kiss, Don't Tell' thing and other legislation."  One would think that if you are an "easy sell" that you would know the name of your legislation.  The "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" legislation is not new either, it has been a topic for a long time in government so one would naturally assume we have some work to do with Dina Titus.  If she is really for the civil rights of citizens of Nevada, we would like to see some proof.   Like a voting record, or better speeches about this topic.  Nevertheless, the meeting never happened because the interviewer was told on several occasions that " Mrs. Titus is busy with very important issues."  Is LGBT legislation not an important issue? If Dina was serious about meeting like she said she was why was the interviewer stalled until Mrs. Titus returned to D.C.?
