Journeys, A Celebration of the Artistic Excellence of Silicon Valley, now on display at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, showcases the work of the 2009 Artist Fellowship Award winners for visual arts. In the 2-Dimensional category, which includes photography and video, Tricia Creason-Valencia and Deborah Thackrey received fellowships from Arts Council Silicon Valley, while sculptor Diana Pumpelly Bates was the fellowship winner in the 3-Dimensional area. Creason-Valencia, Thackrey and Bates are members of the Silicon Valley Artists Collaborative, a newly formed group dedicated to increasing the visibility of artists working in the South Bay. The group promotes opportunities for artists working in all media to show their work to the public, continue educational pursuits, and share their skills.

Tricia Creason-Valencia is the founder of FLACAFILMS, where she works as a director/producer and digital video editor. She has taught film/video production and documentary filmmaking at San Francisco State University and Drexel University and in collaboration with several youth-related non-profit organizations.

Deborah Thackrey is a photographer whose work is in private collections from New York to Los Angeles and Marin County, as well as corporate collections such as Adobe. She has won juried shows in Los Gatos and Santa Clara, and participated in over fifty group shows. Her work is shown in galleries in San Francisco, San Jose and Monterey.

Diana Pumpelly Bates creates both large and small sculptures. She has been Artist in Residence at California State University Stanislaus, Visiting Artist at California State University Sonoma, and Visiting Lecturer at Santa Clara University. She has shown her work at the Oakland Museum, The Triton Museum, and California College of Arts and Crafts.

Journeys will be on display until July 19, 2009. The Triton Museum of Art is located at 1505 Warburton Avenue in Santa Clara. For information call 408-998-2787 x214, or check the website, www.tritonmusem.org.
