Yesterday my friends and I went to the Texas Renaissance Festival in Plantersville, TX. The hour and a half drive from Houston was well worth it as we all loved a day of fun where there are ways to save money.
There truly is something for everyone at the Texas Renaissance Festival. After roaming around all the unique shops and enjoying a variety of food we attended the Jousting competition where we cheered for our seating section’s country, Spain. It was fun to see people of all ages enjoying a sport that once was the “football” of the time. Even nineteen-month-old, Emma Belsha enjoyed the jousting festivities and fun costumes with her parents and grandmother.

Shopping is one of the best attractions at the Renaissance Festival. If you don’t have a costume don’t fret. It’s better to get one there because the staff is always eager to help and you will leave the store feeling like you’ve stepped back in time. If you love knives and swords the selection and quality doesn’t get better then a trip to the Angel Sword store. If you can’t buy one still go in to look. Their swords have been featured on the popular show MythBusters and you may even get to see a demonstration while you’re there.
Entertainment is all around at the festival. One of my personal favorites was Tartanic, a fantastic group of two bagpipers and two drummers. The high-energy music and great performance is sure to please everyone. And there is so much variety. From demonstrations with birds of prey to dance school to magicians, the Texas Renaissance Festival truly has it all.

The best way to save money on this great event is to plan ahead. You can purchase discounted tickets in advance online by visiting their website. Don’t miss out on this great Texas event. They are open every weekend this month including Thanksgiving Friday. You can really bring the Holidays in with style and fun festivities for all by attending their Celtic Christmas Party during Thanksgiving weekend. I will be there, so you can look forward to another review.
