The UMBC soccer team suffered its third defeat in four games Saturday.
This time, a patchwork defense couldn't hold a 2-0 lead, allowing Longwood to come back and defeat UMBC 3-2 in overtime.
Andrew Bulls, the nation's leading scorer, hit his 15th goal and Levi Houapeu scored his 10th goal to give the team a first half lead.
The loss comes on the Retrievers' Homecoming, and drops the team to 10-3-0 after beginning the season 9-0-0.
Cold and rainy conditions foiled UMBC, but the team was perhaps undone by the players that were unable to suit up. Both center backs were sidelined for the game, as Liam Paddock was sitting after accumulating too many yellow cards and Chris Williams was unable to play due to injury.
Getting healthy will be key for the Retrievers, and they won't have much time to do so. They play conference foe Boston on Wednesday on the road.
