Jana Kolpen is a restless soul. She won't stop until she's totally filled the world with her beautiful creations. This East Coast author, painter, realtor, dog lover, world traveler, and all-around lovely lady has taken up ceramics with a vengeance. We were invited to see her first ceramic sculptures and they were a bit crude a first, long willowy ceramic bell-shaped women. But she worked hard and refined her designs over the past year, added color and magical texture to her pieces, and unleashed her fierce creativity to produce a line of JanaBells.
The idea is simple, but extremely original: These ceramic sculptures of women (and angels, men, pets, and birds, too) look great on any table or shelf in your home, but pick them up and they're also bells with unusual clappers (sometimes gorgeous gongs, tinkling ceramic feet, or trinkets) and distinctive sounds. Literally home sculpture with a surprise inside!
The above video shows off some of the most recent JanaBell designs. Visit the JanaBell website to read more about the creative force that is Jana Kolpen and purchase JanaBells for one-of-a-kind, handmade, oh-so-cool holiday gift giving.
