On Sunday Vinoteca di Monica debuted it's new brunch menu and I was extremely impressed. I have to admit though I am not all that surprised. I have been to Monica’s for dinner before at the bar and dining room, both times leaving fully satisfied. When I heard about the restaurant offering a brunch menu I was skeptical, uncertain if they could pull it off. I am pleased to say after leaving bunch on Sunday afternoon delightfully stuffed I will no longer doubt Monica’s ability to impress me with their stellar culinary practices.
The menu was unique, different and not just your run of the mill brunch. I dined with two friends and we had to ask the waitress for more time twice all the menu items were so appealing it was difficult to narrow it down to one. In the end one of my brunch companions ordered a mushroom, Fontana cheese omelette and the other a breakfast pizza. The breakfast pizza consisted of potato, bacon, two sunny side up eggs and cheese. I ordered a sweet pea, bacon, scallion and goat cheese omelette. All three were delicious and I am eager to go back and try the other options on the menu.
For three of us, each consuming two mimosa, the bill came to about $100. A little pricy but you are paying for the fine dining quality Monica’s has always offered it’s patrons. I would recommend Monica’s brunch for when the parents are in town visiting and they are going to take care of the bill. Monica's definitely hit a home run in the brunch department, coupling creative options with an Italian twist. Bravo!
