Millions of adoring fans are now mourning the death of Michael Jackson and Farah Fawcett. These people used their talents in the entertainment industry to bring them fame and wealth. But however great these things were, they won’t do them any good when they face the judgement of God for their lives.

When you stand before God, it doesn’t matter whether you were a famous and wealthy person or a peasant and poor. What does matter is what kind of relationship you have with God.

Some people try to have a relationship with God based on doing a lot of good things for people. Other people try to have a relationship with God based on not doing bad things, such as killing or stealing from people. While these things are commendable, they aren’t good enough to have a solid enough relationship with God to get them past His judgement.

In order to have such a solid relationship, you must come to God on the basis of faith, rather than works. (Romans 5:1) This is done by accepting what Jesus Christ did for you in His sacrificial death on the cross. Jesus paid the penalty for all your rebellious breaking of God’s laws. When you ask Jesus to be your personal Savior and apply His sacrificial death to your life; then God forgives you of your sins, makes you a new spiritual creation, and makes you part of His redeemed family which will be able to enter His heaven when you die.

Since your relationship with God is the only thing that you can take with you when you die; then you should make sure you have a solid one now because you usually don’t know when you will die and face God’s judgement of your life.
