I am passionate about all areas of education, and it’s obvious that my readers are, too.

It is exciting to watch my readership grow, and I am so excited each time I see a new subscriber to this column.

Comments from readers are especially interesting, and I love opposing views that challenge my thinking.

Soon I will receive a new title to reflect that my stories cover a variety of topics. I will be the “Education Examiner.”

My “beat” will continue to include a variety of topics such as educational reports, teachers’ unions, and education options, especially homeschooling and charter schools.

My favorite topic has always been politics, and Obama’s major changes in education policy are both fascinating and scary to me.

Features are fun to write, too, and those are often my most popular “long term” stories.

It has been hard to gage exactly which stories will be popular, so I have always followed my heart in determining what to write about.

The summer may find me switching gears a bit. My manager recently gave me a list of ideas that I am mulling over. Unfortunately, at this point in life, I have so many ideas, and so little time.

The news that’s out there will determine what I write this summer. Sometimes it will be fun, sometimes it will be painful.

In the meantime, I welcome all ideas for stories, as well as feedback on subjects that I cover. You can email me at dokrieg@comcast.net, or put your ideas and feedback in the comments section below this article.
