Internet safety 101: monitoring tools helpful to teachers, parents

How do teachers and parents know if their children are using the internet responsibly? Are students aware that the public posts they make as teens can affect their futures? 
The internet has temptations that will test even the most responsible students.
Common horror stories and studies show that it is essential to monitor your children’s internet activity. It is also important for schools to monitor student internet activity.
There are many tools available to do this, including Eblaster, which will “record, report, alert, forward and block” material on a student’s computer.
In addition, “AT&T* and iKeepSafe have partnered with the American School Counselor Association to create a series of comprehensive online safety education tools,” according to Kelly Starling of A T & T.
"These back-to-school projects will hopefully inspire students to be more conscientious of their Internet use and their online reputation."
These projects include Project Pro, which teaches students how to protect their privacy and reputation online.
“Project PRO allows students to see firsthand how actions on the Internet can affect their lives in the future,” explained Amanda Fitzgerald, Director of Public Policy at the American School Counselor Association.
“AT&T and iKeepSafe have provided school counselors with a vital tool to protect students from
making mistakes online that they will regret into their adult lives,”
Cyber-safety, cyber-security and cyber-ethics are the three C’s integreated into cirricula when schools use iKeepSafe’s Digital Citizenship C3 Matrix, created by iKeepSafe and technology expert Davina Pruitt-Mentle
