Local author, Marcel Emerson, will be having a book signing event held at club Lace. Emerson’s first novel My Eyes Are Green was published under Datruth Publications early in the year.
The story deals with its two main characters, Jennifer Peele and Dontae Erickson, who just walked into DC life when they enrolled in Georgetown University and have to deal with the prestigious world of law school. After life brings them together, they bond over not only their mysterious green eyes, but by their gripping life tragedies, the loss of their mothers.
On one hand Jennifer, once an aspiring songstress, winds up in an abusive relationship with a band member, and attempts to hold her grades, her dreams and her tragic relationship together by a single thread.
Will Jennifer achieve her dreams and leave all of her pain behind?
Dontae enters a relationship with a charming law student, Darrel, but before their relationship flourishes Darrel disappears after the death of his father. Once he returns, alongside his pregnant wife, Darrel attempts to have Dontae on the side.
Will Dontae accept Darrel’s offer?
The book drives the reader through a powerful climax and through decisions made that will transform each character, forever.
The event starts at 11 pm on Saturday night, and ends at 3 am on Sunday. Lace is on 2214 Rhode Island Ave, NE, Washington DC.
