ShowbizSpy reports Robert Pattinson as saying that he doesn’t need to be taking his shirt off to be comfortable with his body. The star apparently joked about Taylor Lautner saying “I don’t walk around with my shirt off all the time! It’s like driving a fancy car, you’re insecure about something.”
Robert also added that New Moon is his favorite book. He said that when he read it, he connected to it very quickly and it was very nice for him, as Edward, to not be the ‘lead’.
On the other hand they report Lautner, who gained 30lbs of muscle for the role in New Moon, is not opposed to taking his shirt off. Although he has been verbal about wanting to be known for his acting and not his hot bod, Taylor was quoted saying “If there’s another character later on in life that requires baring my torso, I’m not opposed to it.”
He also added that gaining the weight wasn’t fun for him as he had to eat loads of protein and “putting” something in his mouth every two hours was a drag.
What was his motivation? Lautner says “the movie and the fans, but I don’t want to become known as just a body.”
