He may not have ever recorded a country album, but Micheal Jackson, but his influence on the musical community transcended several genres of music. Since his death on June 25, several country music stars have been sharing their feelings about Jackson.

The King of Pop worked with country music greats Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers in 1986, recording "We Are the World," a song Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote for a charity project.

CMT News reported that Nelson has not commented publicly on Jackson's death, but Kenny Rogers spoke of the King of Pop during an appearance on Larry King Live June 28.

"First of all, you start off envying, and then you're just thankful you don't have to go through what he went through," Rogers told King. "I mean, that would have been treacherous for anybody. And so I loved his music. ... There are very few people that represent certain eras of music. And he definitely was one of them."

In 2001, Jackson recorded another charity song with Reba McEntire, titled "What More Can I Give." Other artists involved in the project include country artist Billy Gilman, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Luther Vandross and N'SYNC.

McEntire first met the King of Pop in 2000, according to CMT. She was performing at London's Royal Albert Hall, in a tribute to Elizabeth Taylor. Jackson happened to be staying there at the same time.

Country artist Jimmy Wayne reflected with CMT on Jackson's music, and the impact it had on his childhood.

"I am a huge Michael Jackson fan," said Wayne. "I was just listening to his music two days ago as I was running in the park. I grew up listening to him and, in fact, I used to moonwalk down the hallway in school when I was in the sixth grade. My favorite song of his is 'Billie Jean.' I just can't believe it. We have now experienced a day like my mom explained to me the world experienced when Elvis died."

"Thriller was the first album I ever bought with my own money," said Joe Nichols in a CMT interview. "Michael Jackson was truly a pioneer."

Others reflecting on CMT.com include Wynona, Dierks Bentley, Miley Cyrus, Chuck Wicks, Miranda Lambert, and Rascal Flatts.
