On July 9, Nigel Lythgoe, judge and producer of the Fox reality competition show So You Think You Can Dance, informed fans that the show will not be doing a Michael Jackson tribute episode.

There was heavy interest among the So You Think You Can Dance choreographers, including Mia Michaels, Wade Robson, and Tabitha and Napoleon, to do a Michael Jackson tribute, and they selected songs to accompany their routines.

Lythgoe said, however, that permission to use Jackson's music was denied and, therefore, the show could not go on. Throughout the series, Lythgoe has expressed the major impact Jackson had on dance and its role in entertainment.

Fans of Jackson and the reality competition will surely be disappointed by the development.
