It's about time something fresh appears for the Romance Of The Three Kingdoms story. It was Koei's Dynasty Warriors series that has brought fame in the gaming industry to the novel, but has become stale with sequels of practically the same game. Don't get me wrong. The reason I bought a Playstation 2 was for Grand Theft Auto and Dynasty Warriors 3. Countless of sleepless nights were spent fine tuning Wei Yan and the beast known as Lu Bu. But they have lost many of us along the road. Now Three Kingdoms: The Battle Begins may add a hopeful new twist to the classic story
G-rex Soft is in charge of the development and Uforia, Inc. is publishing the PC game. "The opportunity to bring Three Kingdoms to North American gamers is something we are very proud of," said JK Kim, CEO of Uforia. "This story is one of history and vying for power and for the first time it is truly coming to life from the pages of the famous novel to an interactive online experience."
Both Three Kingdoms: The Battle Begins and the Dynasty Warriors series were based on the novel, "Romance Of The Three Kingdoms" by Lo Kuan-chung. The novel, considered the first great novel of China, is historical fiction based on actual events of three separate kingdoms vying for power after the crumbling of the Han Dynasty (206 B.C. - A.D. 220).
Players will be put into in the middle of the warring states of Wu, Shu, and Wei. You will be able to choose between 4 different classes as they plot key political assassinations to take back their land. Make your way through 200 levels filled with boss monsters and tons of minions Dynasty Warriors fans are well too aware of. Three Kingdoms: The Battle Begins has a unique quest system that will allow players to receive their quests on the fly. This means that you won't have to travel back and forth to your contacts and stay on the battlefield without wasted time. Also, you will be able to receive items from completing quests without veering off-course.
Player Versus Player (PVP) battlegrounds will be open by the hour every hour. The winners will become Lords and have access to special abilities and items. Honor points earned through these battles can be used to obtain unique items and equipment from special merchants. Another interesting addition to The Battle Begins is the Player Kill (PK) system with the "Death Note" feature. If a player is constantly being killed by an opponent, players can track them down on their maps to exact the revenge they crave.
Three Kingdoms: The Battle Begins has the opportunity to restore some glory to Romance Of The Three Kingdoms in the gaming industry. Sign up for the beta, which will begin on February 26th at 4pm EST.
