Dear Babs,

It seems that there's an article out on the Chesterfield County Conservative Examiner website that's causing a stir.  Some people are even calling other readers "morons!"  I thought this was supposed to be a respectable site. In fact, I was hoping to use it as a reference site for my class on Government this Fall.  I hear enough offensive language at school as it is.  Do you think you can ask people to tone it down a little?

Dear Teach,

Glad to hear they're still including the subject in our high school curriculum.  Being prone to liberalism, the educational system needs dedicated fans, I mean teachers, like you!

I can't control the comments on the site, and I would suggest that these events merely mimic what's going on in politics in general, what with Nancy Pelosi calling the CIA a bunch of liars, not to mention all the nasty words about Sarah Palin.
After all, this is reality, and the kids should hear this part of life in all its passionate glory!

By the way, do you think there's a text book in my future?  Just wondering...

Dear Babs,

We're absolutely offended that you would post that picture of the Marines, supposedly bowing their heads in prayer, which we've shown over and over again to be nothing more than one of those urban legends.  As founders of Snopes.com, we're shocked that people would believe such a thing!  Why, a Marine believing in God!  What next, will you be showing us pictures of Army soldiers carrying little children out of harm's way in Iraq?  Why not a picture of our servicemen giving out medical supplies to innocent civilians behind the lines?  Do you really think anyone will believe these men and women might actually believe in God or pray? Ridiculous!

Dear Dave and Barb,

Sorry if the photo offended you. I can’t think of anything more irritating than seeing a picture completely taken out of context, especially knowing you’ve researched this to the point of exhaustion and only report the real facts. My faux pas!

The caption should have read, “A bunch of service men and women who might be bowing their heads in prayer, or looking for a contact lens, or checking out the shine on their combat boots, or maybe avoiding the sun or a sudden sandstorm, or maybe it’s just a coincidence they all happen to be looking down, or maybe…”

Sheeesh! We know they’re service men and women, and we know they’re bowing their heads. How about we retract the caption and let our readers determine what they think it means.

My willingness to compromise is all in the spirit of bipartisanship!

Dear Babs,

Do you really think that all of the potential Republican candidates are dropping like flies, just because of Obama? Don’t you think it has more to do with their deviant behavior? Why blame the Messiah?

Dear Viewer,

Don’t be silly! I would never go so far as to blame Obama for the deviant behavior of a few Republicans. I would only blame the expediency of their demise on him. If you believe everything you read on the internet, and you can, since Al Gore, Jr. invented it, then you know every politician has some skeleton in his closet. It’s all a matter of time, or maybe, “timing.”

If you look at how smoothly Obama “handpicked” Hillary, Biden, Richardson, Napolitano, Daschle, and others for positions in his Cabinet, each one has either been “removed” from running in 2012 by being committed to their current position, and Obama can certainly send them on missions all over the world, at his own will, or they’ve been discovered to be tax cheats and removed from politics altogether. Others who could potentially be a threat include those legislators found to have mistresses, including Edwards. There’s also McCain, but he’s not getting any younger, and Obama is probably playing the odds, leaving him alone. Anyone else come to mind? Pelosi and Reid will likely do themselves in, and the “machine” likely paid Letterman a bundle to go after Palin. That really narrows the field.

I’ll tell you what. If you can come up with one real opponent for the 2012 election, and they make it to the primaries without incident, I’ll consider your premise that Obama has had nothing to do with these recent public embarrassments.
