Each year, one in four adults will move someplace else in the United States. And folks will move 11.7 times during their lifetime, with relocating ranking as the third most stressful lifetime event, according to Moving.com.
So if moving is in your future — whether for a new job, getting married or going to school – it helps to be prepared.
I personally haven’t hit that 11.7th time — yet — but I have spent the past year planning a move from a medium-sized town to a large one. We researched schools, neighborhoods, jobs, and physicians. You name it, and I’ve had to take the time to figure out what we would do.
With this very recent knowledge, I can help others forge this path, whether it is one you’re excited to take or reluctant. I’ve felt both ways in the past year as I have gathered information and made decisions that would affect my family and myself — on top of having to still work, keep the family organized and somehow retain my sanity.
I’m now ahead of the learning curve and am exploring our new city. From interviewing orthodontists to adjusting to traffic patterns and school dress codes, I am in exploration mode and ready to help others make their move easier.
