For the last year, rumors have swirled that Beyonce will star in an upcoming movie as Wonder Woman. So where did these rumors come from? Beyonce Knowles herself was said that she would love to have the role in an interview with Los Angeles Times.
The singer/actress explains that she had the desire to act the part, after seeing Lynda Carter and Wonder Woman material in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
"I would definitely have to keep it right for that costume. The way that Lynda Carter wore it, she was sooo fine. She was amazing. I saw her costume at the Met. Her waist was unbelievable. It was pretty crazy, actually, her proportions. But I love Wonder Woman and it'd be a dream come true to be that character. It sure would be handy to have that lasso. To make everybody tell the truth? I need that. It would come in very handy."
Beyonce starred with Ali Larter in “Obsessed” and the action in that thriller, also gave her the idea of playing Wonder Woman. However, she is also open to suggestions when it comes to starring as another super hero.
"I play a wife fighting for her family and I have this big, big fighting scene with Ali Larter, who is an incredible actress. It took us days just to film it. I had my boots on and, wow, I got into it. So I really want that now. Now I have to do an action film. It's like dancing and choreography. And the superhero movies now, they're not corny, not corny at all, so that's what I want to do. And I would love if it could be Wonder Woman."
According to IMDB, Beyonce has no new films in the works. The rumor of Beyonce starring as Wonder Woman, is just that.
When the rumor first hit, not everyone was pleased. In fact, most bloggers do not want Beyonce to get the role as Wonder Woman.
Says Joblo “To cast Beyonce as Wonder Woman would just send the wrong message about the film from the very get go. You develop a WONDER WOMAN film for years and years and then cast Beyonce?”
While some are bothered about changing the icon’s race, more people feel that Beyonce is not a good enough when it comes to acting, and they feel that a better actress should get the role.
