Ledge Ends Farm and Focus Yoga, both in East Greenwich, are teaming up to offer a chance to experience yoga outdoors on a working farm.
The classes, which will be held on Mondays, July 20 and August 17 from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. are intended for all ages and ability levels. The suggested donation is $14 for adults and $10 for children. Family rates are also available. For more information visit www.focusyoga.com or e-mail trisha@ledgeendsfarm.com.
Katherine Conte, director of Focus Yoga, who will teach the classes at Ledge Ends, explains why she decided to offer these classes at the farm. "Summer gives us the opportunity to step outside our "boxes" – i.e. houses, cars, offices – and reacquaint ourselves with the great sky and abundance around surrounding us. Practicing yoga outdoors at a local farm that provides fresh, organic food nourishes our senses and delights our soul."
Historic Casey Farm in Saunderstown is also offering yoga outdoors this summer. Classes at Casey Farm are held weekly on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. (immediately before the start of the Coastal Growers Market) and will feature a different teacher and yoga style each week. Classes, which are offered by donation, begin on Saturday, July 11 and will run through August 15. For more information e-mail caseyfarmnews@gmail.com.
