USB 3.0 and USB 2.0

Hold on, it appears that USB 3.0 may not be on its way. Asus has told The Inquirer that the world's first USB 3.0 based motherboard, its P6X58, has been cancelled.  And apparently done so without any explanation.  Everyone, across the world was waiting anxiously to get his or her hands on the speed-demon USB 3.0.  But now Asus has cancelled its P6X58 USB 3.0 motherboard.

When Asus was pressed to why the motherboard had been cut, the only explanation from an Asus rep. was that’s it had been cancelled “not for any particularly interesting reasons.”

Speculation is suggesting that Asus may have pulled the board due to poor USB 3.0 performance, but there is nothing official yet.

It’s probable that Asus might be holding out for a better chipset, possibly aiming for another feature-rich motherboard to launch USB 3.0, or maybe it’s just waiting to see what everyone else does.

If Asus is still trying to be the first in the USB 3.0 field, they’d better watch Fujitsu, considering the manufacturing company has just announced its new motherboards will feature USB 3.0
