Shopping Your Closet: How to Make Your Summer Wardrobe Work For Fall
It’s official; summer is finally over! Tuesday marked the first day of the autumn season and the beginning of fall fashion. Bright colors, over the knee-high boots, leather jackets, and chunky knits are trends sweeping the runways this fall. However, there’s no reason to rush out and spend foolish money on a new wardrobe when there’s a way to stay in style with a little editing of key pieces from your summer collection.
Take a peek at these inspiration pics to create your look for the fall season. When styling your own wardrobe, make sure the materials are heavier in weight (for example: avoid linen). Bold, bright colors can still be incorporated; mix with thick fabrics and dull colors like black, gray, navy, and brown. More importantly, remember to Layer! Layer! Layer!
The Strapless Dress
Layer a printed blouse (or button-up shirt) and a cardigan (or boyfriend sweater) over top your dress; then belt it. Pair with a cloak (coat), tights, and oxfords.

The Shorts
Colorful opaque tights are a perfect pair with shorts. Add a cotton t-shirt, cardigan, and blazer for a more polished edge. Throw on a pair of booties and chunky jewels to top it off.

The Maxi Dress
This summer “must-have” is not ready to be stored away, just yet. The length is ideal for fall temperatures (add tights for extra coverage). Add boots, cardigan, and belt for a smooth transition to autumn.

The Sleeveless Dress
For an effortless fix to an easy-option, simply wear a long-sleeved turtleneck or shirt underneath for extra coverage. Add tights and knee high motorcycle boots or platforms. Thigh high boots are a great fit for shorter dresses.

The Jumper
Another summer favorite that is sure to stick around! Throw on a hot leather jacket or a classic blazer. Depending on the pant length, ankle boots, knee boots, or oxfords will complete the look.
