Brandon Yip, who spent the last four years at Boston University, was signed to an entry-level contract by the Colorado Avalanche yesterday. Yip was drafted by the Avs in the eighth round (239th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Yip had a stand-out career at BU. After totaling 31 points in 39 games, he was named Hockey East Rookie of the Year after his freshman season. Last season he was the Terrier’s second leading scorer and was a big part of the National Championship run. Yip’s career numbers at BU work out to 108 points (45g/63a) in 139 career games.
