Rematch mismatch: BC falls to Notre Dame
Tonight’s rematch of the 2008 NCAA Championship Finals didn’t go Boston College’s way. In front of a sold-out Kelley Rink crowd, the Eagles suffered their third loss of the season 4-1 to visiting Notre Dame. Senior Brock Bradford had the only goal for BC and sophomore net minder John Muse stopped the puck 19 times.
Meanwhile, in-town rival Boston University staged an exciting comeback to defeat UMass-Lowell 6-4 last night. The Terriers tapped in four third period goals to defeat the River Hawks. Senior Chris Higgins scored twice in the decisive third frame while sophomore Colin Wilson contributed two goals for his second straight two goal game. Freshman goaltender Kieran Millan made several outstanding saves late in the game to secure his fourth straight victory. He made 29 saves.
Harvard suffered their first loss last night, 3-2, to Rensselaer. RPI notched three special teams goals to avenge their 3-1 to Harvard earlier in the week. Junior defenseman Alex Biega assisted on both Crimson goals. Harvard continues their road trip tonight when they take on Union College in Schenectady, N.Y.
And don’t forget -- tonight Northeastern University will host Bentley University in the first-ever meeting between the two teams at 7:00 p.m. EST.
