"God chose Memphis as the place that I will continue my career. I met with Mr. Heinsey, Chris Wallace, and my next head coach Lionel Hollins." Those were the words on Allen Iverson's Twitter page earlier this morning.

Ronald Tillery of the Memphis Commercial Appeal confirmed that the thirteen year verteran has agreed to a one year deal with the Memphis Grizlees worth $3.5 million.

This decision comes after a meeting on Monday with the Memphis brass in which he mentions above.

While glad that AI has finally found a home, is this the best place for him? He clearly will get what he wants in being a starter with Mike Conley probably being shifted to the bench. The team does boast a talentd crew of young players in O.J. Mayo, Conley, Marc Gasol, Rudy Gay, Darrell Arthur, Hasheem Thabeet, and Sam Young. They also added Zach Randolph over the summer who is an extrememly talented scorer but has had his share of issues. Maybe Iverson will florish with the young guys. The thought of Mayo, Gay, Young, and Arthur running on the wing has me thinking that Memphis may be one of the more exciting teams in the league. Hopefully he does not fade into oblivion on a team that is in battle with the Clippers as the Oakland Raiders of the NBA.
