When making the resolve to start being healthier, you don’t need to do a complete overhaul of your unhealthy habits all at once. In fact, that’s a surefire way to fall flat on your face with zero motivation. Instead, try introducing healthy changes one at a time and incorporating them into your daily routine, starting with these fine gems below:

1. Sleep! Your body needs 7-8 hours of sleep each night, so make sure to get in enough pillow time. Schedule your sleep in like you would appointments on your calendar and stick to it.

2. Any kind of exercise is good exercise. Take a walk on your lunch break. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. It doesn’t have to be a full out sweat session to count. Just stay active!

3. Keep hydrated. At least eight ounces of water a day is a good estimation. If you can’t stand plain water, try sparkling water, add a squeeze of lemon juice, or experiment with an herbal tea.

4. Eat more “whole” foods. Those processed and packaged foods that come in a box? They’re for the birds. Replace these meals when you can with fresh and healthy foods, like fruits, veggies, fresh fish, and chicken breast. Yum!

5. Treat yourself.  An occasional treat is perfectly fine. You deserve it.
